The Emerging Leaders Series (ELS) connects young professionals to the many opportunities Grand Rapids has to offer by making Grand Rapids the classroom. This program offers a unique mix of community connections, leadership skills, professional development and engagement opportunities.
While our traditional Leadership Grand Rapids program is designed to connect and enhance established leaders, our Emerging Leaders Series has been developed specifically for young professionals in their 20s who may not have the leadership experience needed to participate in Leadership Grand Rapids, but have a keen interest in our community and growing professionally.

How does the Emerging Leaders Series differ from Leadership Grand Rapids?
Leadership Grand Rapids is an intensive nine-month program for established leaders to develop a personal understanding of our community, and how they can engage in change throughout all of its various parts. This community leadership program also features small group projects that support area non-profits.
The Emerging Leaders Series is much shorter (only four sessions) and includes content pertinent to young professionals, including board service training and exposure to the issues and leaders shaping our community. Participants will leave ready to engage in the community and serve on boards within their personal area of passion.
Both programs offer the opportunity to develop a network of diverse peers, and access to locations, speakers and topics provided only through the Center for Community Leadership.
What if I am a graduate of Download GR?
Download GR is a one-day community orientation program for young professionals. Graduates of this program are encouraged to apply to ELS, because this program offers personal leadership development as well as insights to our community over a longer period of time.
How will my employer benefit from me participating in this program?
Graduates of ELS will bring a better understanding of our community to their organization, an enhanced network, and professional development. You will also be prepared to better represent your organization within the community, and will be certified to participate on volunteer-boards.
